Responsive Web Design
Responsive Web Design (RWD) is the ability to have your website be viewed on all devices: desktop, mobile & tablets.
This has become increasingly more important since more and more people are accessing the web through their mobile devices. People want mobile sites and it’s in any site’s best interest to be mobile-friendly. The amount of mobile traffic (i.e., Smart phones & tablets) now accounts for more than half of total internet traffic. You’ll now lose users when your website loads slowly, looks bad, and doesn’t work on mobile devices.
This trend is so prevalent that as of April 2015 Google has now begun to boost the ratings of websites that are mobile friendly, hence lowering the rankings of websites that are not mobile friendly. Therefore, it is becoming imperative to have a mobile friendly website.
What is a responsive website?
A responsive web design is optimized for an easy viewing and navigating experience across all electronic devices from, desktop computers, lap tops, tablets and mobile devices. It’s basically a paired down version of your website so that it can be easily viewed and accessed on all electronic devices. It’s a great way to capture your clients who are on the go!
What is the difference between “Apps” and a mobile site?
A mobile website is a website that has been optimized for mobile browsing. It can be reached through a phone’s web browser directly. An “app” is a software application that is downloaded and installed on your mobile device, rather than being rendered within a browser.
