12 Days of Tech Tools

12 Days of Tech Tools. We're counting down to 2020 with a list of 12 tools I use daily.
Over the next 12 days as we count down to 2020 I’ll be sharing 12 of my (April’s) favorite tech tools. These are the apps and tools I use on a daily basis both personally and to manage our social media clients here at CMC. First up on day one is Trello! Trello is a task management system. I like to think of it as a huge whiteboard filled with sticky notes, but neatly organized and beautifully displayed on all your devices! I use Trello to manage my projects by client, moving my work for them through stages of design and execution. I can work in concert with my team in real-time by giving both clients and employees access to specific boards in my account. Essentially Trello is made up of 3 key parts: boards, lists, and cards.
Features of Trello

🔹Boards are like the entire file for a particular topic. It’s the main holding area for all the smaller levels of content that come in the form of lists and cards. I have a board for each client as well as a board for personal and work goals, my company content calendar, etc.

🔹 Lists live on your boards and are essentially sub-folders. For each of my clients, I have lists for ‘Content Provided By Client’ as well as phases of the workflow. When cards are executed I move them to different lists to match the stages of project completion.

🔹 Cards live under lists on your boards and are where the magic happens in Trello. You create cards for tasks, pieces of content, documents, instructions….any individual item lives on a card. Cards can have some very useful features too such as color-coded labels, checklists, attachments, due dates and more.

All of these items in a Trello account can be shared with specific people (and access can be revoked as needed). People can be assigned roles and tagged (notified) in any area. I will admit that Trello wasn’t inherently easy for me at first. We’ve tweaked how we use it over time. But it’s an essential tool for collaborating with my team to run my business.
